Job description
This position is unique in that you have many different tasks that are delegated to you. Primarily, you coordinate all of the youth basketball camps throughout the summer, as well as other operational duties. I have done all of the pre-camp duties such as registration, and camper room assignments, as well as in-camp tasks such as scheduling all of the caterers for our meals during the camps. I am also in charge of finding coaches to work our camp. When the camp is in session, I am in charge of making sure every group gets to where they need to go in a timely and safe manner. There are many other aspects to this job, but they change from day to day so my job is always interesting and new!
requirements & qualifications
You must be a student at Texas A&M University, as well as possess certain organizational and time management skills in order to be a good effective intern. You do not necessarily need to know a lot about basketball, but it does help to make the job more enjoyable.
benefits & pay
There are many benefits to this position such as being able to interact with our entire coaching staff, and players, as well as you have access to all of our facilities at Reed Arena. We host 5 camps each summer, and the pay varies from camp to camp. Although you do not get paid for hours worked when camps are not in session, the pay from camp is adequate to make it worth your while.
Achievements
I have learned so much from this position and if you take full advantage of the opportunities that this job presents, the skills you learn will be transferable to any job in your future!
